Red is the color of passion, energy and "Action!". When I first started painting, I was drawn to paint on metal and acrylic. I just loved how my paints would glide on their surface. I purchased red acrylic platters at Z Gallerie then drove down to a local steel mill and found a pile of red aluminum sheets that were 1 cent each. I bought them all. For some reason, I just needed red.
Discovering that RED is associated with the root or 1st chakra, and is powerfully linked to our most primitive physical and emotional needs of survival and self-preservation--I then understood my intuitive choice for RED. I was barely surviving in those days. Working through memories of childhood abuse. And painting RED gave me the courage and change to take "Action!". Giving me back my power, will, and desires. Really . . . giving me back my life.
This paint stroke reminds me of a Hershey's kiss. Or a flame on a candle.
