When I painted "inner self", I was in deep reflection. Going deep within to heal memories from childhood abuse. Black was both a trigger and a safe haven for me. Bringing up fear, depression, loneliness. But also protecting and comforting. Strong. Allowing me to accept and release my real feelings. Some very dark. Red grounded me to my root chakra and the earth during this process. Iridescent white is associated with light, goodness, innocence, and purity -- so much of what I wanted back. It represented a successful beginning for me. And turquoise allowed me to speak my truth, honestly and openly.
